The National Centre for Disease (NCDC) on the 4th December, 2020 donated an Isolation and Treatment Centre to the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi.
At the commissioning and handing over of the facility, Dr. Chikwe Ihkweazu, the Director General of NCDC appreciated the Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire for being present at the event and for the support received so far from the ministry.
He urged the centre and the community to make judicious use of the facility for covid-19 related cases and infectious diseases.
He said the facility is purposely located in a strategic location for easy accessibility of people within the hosting and neighboring states as well as he tasked the community to form hands with the hospital’s management in maintaining the facility.
The Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, in his own remarks, acknowledged the efforts of the NCDC and extended his appreciation to the centre for its pro-activeness and speed at which the project was executed.
He further urged the management to make judicious use of the facility and add value to the host community, the state and Nigeria in particular, adding that the centre has been known for its excellence in health care delivery.
The chairman of the Governing Board, Prince Sule-Iko, Sadeeq Sani, while welcoming The Minister, The Director Director (NCDC) and their entourage thanked them for their excellent collaboration with FMC, Keffi in this critical time the world is ravaged with a global pandemic, which has negatively crippled all activities, he wished them happy stay and journey mercies back to their various destinations.
The MD/Ce Dr. Yahaya Baba Adamu in his remarkable speech expressed his utmost happiness while appreciating The Minister and The DG NCDC, saying their presence at the event demonstrates Federal Government readiness to fight the pandemic.
He said the pandemic has had its impacts in all aspects of our daily activities. He urged all to strictly adhere to protocols in place by the relevant government agencies.
He commended the collaboration and relentless efforts of The Nasarawa State Government in supporting the centre.
