As parts of the Management’s efforts in repositioning health care service delivery in the Centre, the Medical Director/ Chief Executive, Dr Yahaya Baba Adamu, today commissioned a newly equipped Day Care Centre in Clinical Haemotology/ Blood Transfusion Department. Speaking during the commissioning, the Medical Director expressed satisfaction with the project. He stated that his administration will continue to initiate programmes and projects that are beneficial to patients, staff and other members of the hospital community.Also speaking, the head, department of Clinical Haematology/Blood Transfusion, Dr. Chika-dibia Okoma, appreciated the Management and the Chief Executive, Dr. Yahaya Baba Adamu, for prompt intervention in the department. Describing the new Unit as the Accident/ Emergency section of Haematology department, Dr, Chika-dibia, also hinted that the Daycare Centre will serve as a relief to the hospital and reduce the menace of frequent out of bed space at the Accident/Emergency Department as sickle cell patients in emergency situation can be handled at the Centre before taking to wards.He further disclosed that, the new section of the department will run all sickle cell related emergency cases, blood transfusion, chemotherapy among others.
