The House Health Committee promises increased funding for FMC Keffi.

The Federal House of Representatives Committee on health Institutions has promised to improve on the funds allocated to Federal Medical Centre, Keffi, Nasarawa state. This was made known by the Committee's Chairman, Hon. Amos Gwamna Magaji, during an oversight visit to the Centre, today, May 15th,2024. The Committee members in performing one of their mandates which is oversight were in the hospital to check the Center's budget performance viz a viz ; allocation and utilization of funds. The Committee decried the poor appropriation of very little amount for capital projects. He said, the poor allocations resulted in the poor health care services experiencing. The Medical Director/ Chief Executive, Dr Yahaya Baba Adamu, in his welcome address, appreciated the committee for their resilience and determination to improve healthcare in Nigeria through robust legislation, appropriation and oversight. The Committee after a brief sitting, embarked on a facility tour of ongoing projects in the Centre like the Multi-Specialists clinic, Twin Modular Theatre and the 116 bedded ward extension project. The Committee also had a robust engagement with representatives of all the unions in the Centre, listening to their challenges ranging from power issues, working condition, medical equipment, renumeration and enhanced welfare. The Committee assured the unions that they are serious about legislations that will empower and guarantee a good working environment. Other members of the Committee are, Dr Adesola Adedayo, vice chairman, Hon. Sarki Dahiru, member, Hon. Danladi Suleiman Agaye and Mr Halilu Abbas, Clerk of the Committee.
